Smoky Mountains/Gatlinburg, March 2005

Steve and Betsy shared their vacation with Patty and Jon, Terry and Debbie, and Cindy and me March 17 through 21, 2005.  We rented a 'chalet' on Wiley Oakley Drive.  The chalet has 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, a jacuzzi tub in one of the bathroom, and a hot tub on the lower deck.  We weren't exactly roughing it.  The picture windows and deck looked across Gatlinburg to Mt LeConte and Sugarlands Mountain - a magnificent view!  Of course, the chalet name was "Mount Vista."  We had a great time visiting together, eating together, hiking together, and playing together.

Because my memory is already fading, I'll record our schedule here before it's gone entirely:

  • Thursday, March 17
    • Late lunch at Apple Barn Restaurant
    • Check-in at Mount Vista
    • Sevierville Walmart for grocery shopping
  • Friday March 18
    • Trillium Gap Trail to Grotto Falls
    • Exit via the Roaring Fork Motor Trail
    • Meet with Patty, and Terry and Debbie at the Old Mill Restaurant for late lunch (4 PM)
  • Saturday, March 19
    • Visit to The Happy Hiker
    • Sugarlands Valley Nature Walk
    • Roaring Fork Motor Trail
    • Resupply in Gatlinburg
  • Sunday, March 20
    • Miniature Golf in Gatlinburg
    • Laurel Falls
    • Nascar go-carting
  • Monday, March 21
    • Breakfast at Apple Barn Restaurant in Sevierville
    • Ladies shop while men ride go-carts.
    • Smoky Mountain Knife Works
